Tephrosia Purpurea, commonly known as Sharpunkha, is a perennial erect herb that grows up to 1.5 meters tall. It is a common wasteland weed but is also cultivated as a green manure crop. This plant has a great medicinal significance in Ayurveda. It maintains the general health of the liver. The plant is rich in flavonoids and retenoids such as rutin, quercetin, retenoids deguelin, elliptone, rotenone, etc which have amazing medicinal properties.
