Lodhra, scientifically known as Symplocos Racemosa is an evergreen medium size tree, with a multitude of medicinal properties. This tree is mentioned as DIVYA AUSHADHI (Divine herb) in Ayurvedic classics. The grayish-brown bark powder contains alkaloids like loturine, loturidine and colloturine, which are responsible for its therapeutic potential. It rectifies various types of blood disorders and also acts as a natural laxative. The bark of the tree is used in Ayurvedic medicines like Lodhrasavam, Arimedadi tailam and Dasamoolarishtam.
