Solanum Xanthocarpum, commonly known as ‘Kantakari’ is one of the Dasamoola and commonly used drug in Ayurveda. This prickly, bright green, highly branched perennial shrub is a weed that grows along the roadsides and wastelands in the tropical and sub-tropical regions of India. The whole plant is used in various Ayurvedic drugs. We find the reference about this herb in several Ayurvedic classics giving a strong scientific base. This herb is an ingredient of the well known Chyavanprash and an Ayurvedic tonic called Dashmularista.
