Sida cordifolia, commonly known as “Indian Ephedra” or “Bala” in Sanskrit is a valuable medicinal shrub in India. It exists in four different varieties and all of them are medicinally significant. The medicinal properties are attributed to the alkaloid ephedrine, vasicinol, vasicinone, and N-methyl tryptophan present in the roots and seeds. Ashwagandha Bala massage oil containing seed powder is used for emaciation in children and to remove general weakness in men and women.
