Saraca Indica or Saraca Asoka, commonly known as Ashoka, is a small evergreen tree native to India. A great religious significance is attached with this tree in India. The reddish-brown bark of the tree shows natural detoxification properties which help in the elimination of the toxins from the body. The bark is rich in tannins, flavonoids, steroids, volatile oil, glycosides, and various steroidal glycosides, which are medicinally significant.
