Phyllanthus niruri is an annual herb that grows as a field weed and is widely distributed in the coastal areas of India. It has been used in the Indian Ayurvedic systems since almost 2000 years. This short living plant is used in almost 175 Ayurvedic formulations due to its varied medicinal properties. It cures a wide range of problems including kidney stones and jaundice. The bioactive compound called “niruriside” present in this plant has the potential to inhibit the action of even Human Immuno Deficiency Virus.
