Agnimantha or Clerodendrum Phlomidis is one among Dashamoola group of herbs that is extensively used in Ayurveda and Siddha system of medicine, for the treatment of various ailments. B-sitosterol and Luteolin are the two known active compounds present in its leaves which are responsible for its medicinal properties. The leaves can address various gastrointestinal problems. So they are also cooked and eaten as ‘Saag’. Agnimantha is commonly used in some of the Ayurvedic medicines like ‘Amritaprasha Ghrita’ and ‘Khadiradi Gutika’.
