Aralu, scientifically known as Ailanthus excelsa is a tree indigenous to Central and Southern India. It is popularly known as “Indian Tree of Heaven”, as phytochemical investigations and pharmacological evaluations have clearly ascertained its innumerable health benefits. The bark of this tree contains certain vital chemical constituents like sitosterol, Quassinoids and Ailantic acid which account for its medical properties. The bark is used in a wide number of ayurvedic formulations like Dadimavaleha, Brihat Gangadhara Churna, and Pusyanuga churna due to its medical significance.
