Adhatoda vasica, commonly known as Malabar Nut, is a small evergreen shrub, which has been used in multiple ways in traditional Ayurveda. The prominent alkaloid found in its leaves is vasicine, which is well known for its bronchodilatory effect. Along with its application as a therapeutic respiratory agent, the leaf powder also shows anti-ulcer and insecticidal activity. The leaves of this plant are rich sources of carotene and Vitamin-C which make it nutritionally significant.
